This academic year, Peacemakers, a charity principally funded by Central England Quakers, start exciting new school-community building projects across the Midlands.

Peacemakers-Launch-More-Projects.jpgPeacemakers work with teachers, staff, students and parents to help school communities grow and develop; by putting time and energy into building, maintaining and repairing relationships in the classroom, in the staffroom, in the playground and in the corridors.

This academic year, they have just started the Whole School Approach Project at Bells Farm Primary School, Druids Heath Birmingham. Peacemakers and Bells Farm are at the start of a year long journey to ensure that healthy relationships are a focus across the school community. More resilient relationships across the school will mean the adults and children can work more effectively without conflict.

One teacher commented about the Whole School Approach Project “The impact of this training has been very profound for me. I feel a much greater responsibility for creating an atmosphere in which both children and adults feel happy and secure.”

Peacemakers are also delighted to launch brand new projects for schools to engage with! Jackie Zammit, Peace Education Trainer, has begun supporting secondary school teachers with the delivery of “Life Skills” sessions. These enable teachers and pupils to develop the essential social and emotional skills we all need for life.

In addition, in light of all schools in England now having to show how well their pupils develop spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (SMSC), Peacemakers have been creating a resource to help schools with the delivery of this. The resource will be published soon and start a new chapter for Peacemakers working with local schools. In the meantime, they are offering training sessions on how SMSC might be effectively delivered.

Peacemakers would be delighted to discuss a suitable project for your school; to create the building blocks of a community, inclusion and conflict transformation.
