Why Charities and Not-for-Profits Choose The Priory Rooms for Their Events
When a charity or not-for-profit organisation books an event venue, every pound of the budget matters. There’s a responsibility to funders, trustees, and beneficiaries to spend wisely — and that means finding a venue that delivers on quality without waste. The Priory Rooms in Birmingham city centre was built for exactly that kind of organisation.
Charity venue hire Birmingham that shares your values
The Priory Rooms is itself a not-for-profit venue, rooted in Quaker values of integrity, stewardship, and community. A proportion of our trading profits are donated to the Central England Quakers to support community projects, and surplus food from every event is donated to Let’s Feed Brum, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham.
That means when a charity books with us, their spend stays in the social economy rather than returning to shareholders. For organisations that report on social value or need to demonstrate ethical procurement, that’s a meaningful distinction.
10% discount for charities and not-for-profit organisations
We offer a 10% discount on all bookings to registered charities and not-for-profit organisations. Whether you’re running a trustee away-day, a staff training session, a stakeholder conference, or a public-facing event, the discount applies across our full range of room hire and day delegate packages.
To access the discount, simply mention your charity or not-for-profit status when enquiring. Our team will confirm eligibility and apply it to your quote.
Sustainability built in, not bolted on
Many charity funders now require grant recipients and service providers to report on environmental impact. Booking at The Priory Rooms gives your organisation something concrete to report. We run on 100% renewable electricity, operate water-saving systems throughout the building, serve Fairtrade refreshments, work with local food suppliers to reduce food miles, and provide compostable packaging for leftover food. Delegates are actively encouraged to bring reusable cups.
These aren’t afterthoughts — they’re embedded in how the venue operates day to day.
Central location, accessible to all
The Priory Rooms is located at 40 Bull Street, Birmingham B4 6AF, in the heart of the city centre. We’re one minute from Bull Street Metro, seven minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street, and a short walk from both Snow Hill and Moor Street stations. The building is fully step-free and wheelchair accessible throughout, including our first-floor rooms via lift.
For charity events drawing delegates from across the region or nationally, the central Birmingham location means lower travel costs and less time lost to commuting.
Rooms for every type of charity event
We have ten rooms accommodating between 2 and 210 delegates, with flexible layouts that suit everything from small committee meetings and board sessions to large AGMs, public consultations, training days, and conferences. Our Main Meeting House — which seats up to 210 in theatre style — is regularly used for charity annual conferences and membership events.
Catering is fully flexible. We can provide simple Fairtrade tea and coffee with biscuits for a half-day budget meeting, right through to a fully catered multi-course lunch for a fundraising event. All dietary requirements are catered for as standard.
